I have lived in Priddy for 25 years with my wife Sue. I am semi-retired (though thinking about the ‘semi’ bit). My background is in project and programme management (one of my last assignments was managing one of the vaccine projects at the Vaccine Task Force), contract negotiation and management and organisational change. I’ve worked in IT, Pharmaceuticals, Finance and Defence amongst other areas and hope that at least some of the experience I’ve gained can be put to good use on the Parish Council. I’m particularly interested in keeping the ‘Priddiness’ of Priddy whilst ensuring that it remains a vibrant community for people of all ages who can continue to enjoy its unique environment. I’ve never understood why people want to be famous or well-known and only put myself forward (perhaps foolishly) for the Council when I was asked to.
As a long-time holder of various driving licences and a life long ‘petrolhead’, as well as being a walker and cyclist, I bring a variety of perspectives to the Traffic Calming Advisory Group. I see no conflict between a love of things with wheels and engines and responsible behaviour when using them.
I believe (1) that councillors must be open and transparent and demonstrate the highest standards of integrity and (2) that we should keep trying to improve how we communicate (both transmit and receive!) and learn what the Parish wants, within the Council’s (considerable) financial and legal limitations. However, I learned a long time ago that you can’t please all of the people all of the time.
